This poster was made because waste is one of the biggest problems in the world, especially in Indonesia. Indonesia is the 5th largest waste producer in the world by 2020.  Therefore, we feel that we need to educate people on how to dispose of waste properly. One way to do this is by using posters. Although this method will not eliminate waste, it can reduce it.

1. Separate your waste

Separating waste into different bins is a simple but effective way to contribute to a cleaner environment. By separating your waste, you can ensure that recyclable materials are recycled properly, organic waste is composted, and non-recyclable waste is disposed of safely. To get started, you can look at your city's waste segregation guidelines. In addition, you can contact your local government or waste manager for more information on how to separate waste properly.

2. Separate recyclable waste

When waste is separated at source, different types of recyclable waste will not contaminate each other. For example, paper and glass are two materials that are easily recyclable. However, a broken bottle can contaminate the entire paper container and everything will end up in landfill. When waste is separated at source, it is less likely that this will happen, ensuring that your recyclables are processed.

3. Reuse items

By reusing packaging and other items, we can reduce our waste even further, as well as saving money and resources by avoiding buying something new. For example, open up the bottom of a used milk carton and plant a tree seedling inside it. The carton will protect your seedling from weather and pests, and when planted it will degrade as the tree grows.

4. Compost

Composting is the perfect way to reduce waste and produce nutritionally rich soil for your garden. You can use compost in your garden to improve soil quality, maintain moisture, and promote healthy plant growth. If there is a community garden near you, you can even consider sharing your compost with them to support their gardening activities.

5. Reduce unnecessary waste

Reducing what you throw away and reusing as many items as possible is a great way to reduce your impact on the environment. From thinking differently about what you buy, to refilling water bottles or using bags for life, to composting at home - there are many ways to make a real difference.
